Assessment is a component of the outcomes based education and training national policy adopted by the SA government in 1995. Moderation is another, as are SAQA, the setas and the NQF. The latter is the mechanism created to organise and classify qualifications and standards in SA.

The assessment component entails assessing the learning of learners against a qualification or unit standard. Assessment can be by way of a portfolio of evidence, observation in the workplace, written examination, etc.

Assessors are subject-matter experts who assess candidates against qualifications or unit standards and who are registered with the relevant ETQA – in many cases a seta.

Our Assessor certification is in terms of:
US Standard 115753 Conduct Outcomes-based Assessment

The seta with which we are registered as an assessor is the Services Seta and the list of qualifications against which we are registered can be found here.

Moderators are subject-matter experts who moderate assessment activities against unit standards and qualifications and they are, by default, certified assessors. They are registered with the relevant ETQA – in many cases a seta.

Our Moderator certification is in terms of:
Unit Standard 115759 Conduct Moderation of Outcomes-based Assessment

The seta with which we are registered as an assessor is the Services Seta and the list of qualifications against which we are registered can be found here.
